asked the Minister for Lands the number of inspectors and engineers employed by the Land Commission in County Mayo for 1970, 1971 and 1972 respectively.

(Cavan): The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

County Mayo.

Number of Inspectors and Estates Officers employed on field duties.

1970

15 Inspectors (including two—both with engineering qualifications— engaged on improvements works)1 Estates Officer

1971

14 Inspectors (including two—both with engineering qualifications— engaged on improvements works)1 Estates Officer

1972

14 Inspectors (including two—both with engineering qualifications— engaged on improvements works)1 Estates Officer

Notes: (1) In addition to above there were 3 higher grade Inspectors employed in County Mayo during the period 1970-72. One was in charge of the Inspectorate Division consisting of Counties Mayo, Sligo and Donegal while the other 2, under his direction, had chargeship, respectively, of North Mayo and South Mayo.

(2) Estates Officers perform a range of lower Inspectorate duties.
