asked the Minister for Lands if he will make arrangements to supply free to the various societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals in Ireland moss peat which can be successfully used to dry-clean swans polluted by oil.

(Cavan): No application has been made to me for assistance of the nature specified by the Deputy. Should any application be made it will receive careful consideration having due regard to the effectiveness or otherwise of moss peat in the treatment of oil-covered swans.
