My Department is not maintaining the kind of detailed local records which would be necessary to enable the required information to be given. I can say, however, that, immediately before the removal from 2nd July, 1973 of the test referred to, there were 130 unemployment benefit claims in payment to women of the classes in question; by the end of July the number had increased to 204. Returns as at the end of August, although not yet complete, show that the number had further increased.
