Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Pollution.

126.

asked the Minister for Finance if the hydrological data available to the Office of Public Works is of a nature whereby it can help in devising ways and means of eliminating pollution in this country's natural waters.

Mr. Kenny

The hydrological information being assembled and processed by the Office of Public Works relates mainly to the monitoring of flow measurements and river levels under varying climatic conditions. This information is of benefit, and is made available on request, to bodies such as An Foras Forbartha, local authorities, consulting engineers, industrialists and others who may be concerned with measures to prevent or control pollution of rivers or in gauging the effects of industrial or other projects thereon.
