Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Parking of Lorries.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will introduce legislation to restrict the parking of heavy lorries in residential areas.

Sufficient powers are already available under the Road Traffic Acts, 1961 and 1968, to enable the parking of vehicles of any class to be controlled and regulated. Such powers may be exercised by the Garda Commissioner in respect of any area by means of bye-laws made by him after consultation with the local authority concerned and with my consent.
