Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Land Resources.

88.

asked the Minister for Local Government the position relating to the institution of a tripartite committee of the three Dublin local authorities to co-ordinate the land resources of these bodies.

The Deputy will be aware of the recent announcement regarding the appointment of Mr. James Molloy, Assistant City and County Manager, as housing coordinator for the Dublin area. The responsibilities which will be delegated to Mr. Molloy will include the acquisition of all land required for housing and ancillary purposes in Dublin City and County, and in the Borough of Dún Laoghaire.

The Dublin City and County Manager in a report on the supply of land prepared in June, 1973, and submitted to the three authorities in the Dublin area suggested that consideration should be given to the setting up of a joint committee with adequate powers to carry out all the planning and development functions of the three authorities. I understand that agreement was not reached on the setting up of such a joint committee. No proposal in the matter has accordingly been submitted to me.
