Vol. 268 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Road.

92.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange to have the road between Killarney and Killorglin on the Ring of Kerry brought up to the designation standard that will entitle it to the type of grants that will allow major road works to take place, thereby enabling the road to accommodate heavy industrial traffic together with tourist traffic as at present it is both dangerous and difficult to negotiate.

The question of the execution of works to improve the standard of the Killarney to Killorglin road is a matter for the Kerry County Council who are the responsible road authority. As to the classification of the road referred to, it is included in a provisional selection of regional roads, details of which were forwarded by my Department to the Kerry County Council for their views and recommendations on 28th August last. A reply from the council on the matter is awaited.
