Vol. 269 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal Electricity Supply.

31.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he considers that £1,128.88 is a reasonable quotation to make to a small farmer in County Donegal (details supplied) who wishes to obtain a connection for electricity supply.

I am informed by the ESB that the person in question was recently quoted the subsidised terms for supply under the final phase of the rural electrification scheme in the Letterbarra Rural Area. Due to the very high cost involved in making supply available a contribution would be required in addition to the normal fixed charge and a special service charge. These terms are the lowest available under the rural electrification scheme and are based on the actual cost of extending supply to the premises, which involves the erection of 2.6 Km of line together with a transformer, service and meter.
