Vol. 269 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Bus Driver's Insurability.

35.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will furnish information on the insurability of part-time school bus drivers employed by CIE with particular reference to (a) the contribution payable (b) the benefit payable and (c) the approximate number of persons insured.

School bus drivers employed by CIE on a part-time basis to drive vehicles which are the property of the company are employed under a contract of service and their employments are insurable at the ordinary rate of contribution viz., at present £3.08 per week for a man, of which £1.72 is normally payable by the employer, and £2.96 per week for a woman, of which £1.67 is payable by the employer. These contributions are reckonable for all benefits under the Social Welfare Acts. It is understood that the number of persons so insured is approximately 750.
