Vol. 269 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. - County Donegal Electricity Supply.

71.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of the under-powered electricity supply available in the Carrigans district, County Donegal; and the action it is proposed to take in the matter.

I am informed by the ESB that the voltage in the Carrigans District of County Donegal was checked following local complaints and was found to be below the normal limits. Certain network improvement works have now been carried out in the area which should result in the voltage being restored to normal.

72.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware of the varying overpowered electricity supply in parts of the Milford district, County Donegal; and if he will have the matter remedied.

I am informed by the ESB that the board are not aware of any existing problem with over-powered electricity supply in parts of the Milford district of County Donegal. However, the board will investigate any complaints if details are supplied.

Is the Minister or the board aware that on private tests taken in Milford itself and not just in the surrounding districts, readings were as high as 250 volts, that this is causing havoc and that this has been going on for the past year and a half, perhaps more? I have been aware of it for a considerable time.

It seems from my information from the ESB yesterday, that they were not aware of any existing problems because of over-powered electricity, as if the complaints had not got to them. If the Deputy would give me details of individual complaints I shall certainly take them up with the board and find out what exactly is the position.

If the Minister would be good enough to pass on the information that the complaints are in regard to Milford town and the immediate surrounding districts they could have them checked. I have the information on private tests.

I will, of course.
