NOTE: Travel fares for attendance at the United Nations General Assembly Session and at meetings of the Council of the European Communities are borne by the respective organisations.
Could the Minister tell us on how many occasions he travelled as a guest of other nations? Could the Minister specify the occasions?
As a guest?
A Deputy
They let you have Home's jet.
I am afraid that is a separate question. I do not want to delay the House by going through the list. My impression is that I have not done so at all but I would like to go through the list to make sure. Perhaps the Deputy had better put down a separate question.
I asked the Minister to state the purpose, destination and cost of each trip. If there is no cost he could indicate the occasions on which he travelled by courtesy of other Governments.
There was no trip with no cost. I have not, as far as I can recall, been the guest of any country at any location. There have been several occasions when I have had the advantage of travelling with Ministers in their planes in the case of Belgium, France and the United Kingdom but——
Did they charge the Minister?
——not as a guest at any place.
No. 24.
If the Minister did not pay and he was not a guest, in what capacity did he travel?
A Deputy
A stowaway.
The Deputy did not hear me. I said there was no case where there was no payment. In every instance we have had to pay. That shows that we were not anybody's guests.
