Vol. 270 No. 7

Written Answers. - Meath Old Age Pension.

448.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will grant the full old age pension of £12.35 to a person (details supplied) in County Meath who is aged 83 years and whose wife is 69 years since 4th August, 1973.

The pensioner referred to in the Deputy's question is receiving the maximum rate of old age contributory pension, £12.35, payable in the case of a married pensioner over 80 years of age whose wife has not yet attained the age of 69. According to the records of my Department, his wife's date of birth is 3rd August, 1905. If documentary evidence to the effect that the pensioner's wife has already attained age 69 is given to my Department, the appropriate increase will be granted, bringing the pension to £12.85.
