Vol. 270 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Grown Wheat.

200.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will indicate the financial position in respect of Irish grown wheat in the EEC at present; and if French wheat is competing with Irish wheat.

As there are no quantitative restrictions on the import of wheat Irish grown must be sold in competition with French and other imported wheat of similar quality. The present price of French wheat landed here is approximately £70 per tonne.

Is the French wheat that is coming in tested?

It has to be of a certain quality.
