27.

asked the Minister for Local Government if it is intended that 50 per cent of the rate in the £ levied for health services in each local authority area for 1974 will be met from State funds.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 27 together.

In the transitional financial "year" 1974, there will be a reduction of 62½ per cent on the rate in the £ levied in the year 1972-73 in each local authority area for health and local authority housing provided for letting. The full cost of this reduction will be met from State funds.
