asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a statement on the working condition of the synchrolift for lifting fishing vessels for repair at Dunmore East, County Waterford (details supplied); and if he will take immediate steps to ensure that the lift will function properly.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the synchrolift at Dunmore East harbour, County Waterford has not worked since its installation over two years ago; and if he will indicate the steps he intends to take to have this necessary facility available as soon as possible.
With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to answer Questions Nos. 145 and 146 together.
I am informed that the synchrolift as such is quite in order, but additional equipment yet to be delivered and fitted is required before it will be ready for use. It is hoped that the complete installation will be available by mid-April.
