Vol. 271 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Research Institutes.

62.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the progress made with regard to the exchange of information regarding the structures under which industrial research institutes operate at national and EEC levels.

There is only one industrial research institute in Ireland, namely, the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards.

At a conference of European directors of research associations in April, 1973, a working party was set up to examine a suggestion that an EEC association of research institutions be formed for the purpose of representing collectively and authoritatively the technical centres engaged in cooperative industrial research in the European Economic Community. Two meetings of the group have already taken place and draft documents have now been prepared which will be submitted to a plenary session in Brussels in May, 1974.
