Vol. 271 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Health and Housing Inspector.

91.

asked the Minister for Health if he will take steps to fill the vacancy caused by the death of a housing health inspector for the New Ross area in County Wexford; and in order to avoid delays in the housing programme in County Wexford, if he will increase the number of health and housing inspectors in the county.

The filling of this vacancy is a matter for the SouthEastern Health Board who, I understand, have already taken steps to have it filled in a temporary capacity pending the making of a permanent appointment through the Local Appointments Commission.

An increase in the health inspectorate staff is a matter for the health board in the first instance. Any such proposals which may be submitted by the board will be considered in my Department as quickly as possible.
