Vol. 272 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trainee Fishermen.

22.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if there has been any increase since 1972 in the number of boys training as fishermen.

Two training courses for new entrants to the fishing industry, each of 12 months duration, are provided each year by my Department. Thirty-six participants completed the 1972 courses, and of those who participated in the 1973 courses 23 have completed their course and an additional 24 will complete their course by August next.

The Parliamentary Secretary's reply was not too clear. Could he tell us whether there was an increase or a decrease?

Thirty-six participants completed the 1972 courses and of those who participated in the 1973 courses 23 have completed their course and an additional 24 will complete their course by August next.

There was a drop?

If you add 23 and 24 you may be able to get the answer.

How much is that?
