asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April, 1974 (a) whether they were made in Ireland or abroad (b) whether they were made by Irish directors and units and, if not, by whom and (c) the cost of the films concerned.

(a) All films were made in Ireland; (b) All films were made by an Irish company with Irish crews. The director is not an Irish national but has been domiciled in this country for the past 13 years; (c) The cost of the seven filmlets made in the past 12 months was £15,101. The estimated cost of the film commissioned is £7,500.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April, 1974 (a) whether they were made in Ireland or abroad (b) whether they were made by Irish directors and units and, if not, by whom and (c) the cost of the films concerned.

The four filmlets referred to in my reply to the Deputy's question on 24th April, 1974, were made in Ireland by an Irish advertising agency. As I indicated in reply to a previous similar question on 11th December, 1973, three of the crew of nine persons involved in making the filmlets were brought over from England by the agency. The other six were Irish.

It would be contrary to my Department's practice to disclose the information requested at (c) of the Deputy's question, amounts paid by the Department to contractors being treated as confidential.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April, 1974 (a) whether they were made in Ireland or abroad (b) whether they were made by Irish directors and units and, if not, by whom and (c) the cost of the films concerned.

The following are the particulars requested, so far as my Department is concerned, in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April, 1974. (a) All of the films were made in Ireland; (b) All were made by Irish directors and film units; (c) (i) Cost of documentary film, £6,405 (estimated), (ii) Cost of short filmlets—three complete filmlets, £1,955, five filmlets in production, £4,000 (estimated).

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if he will state in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April, 1974 (a) whether they were made in Ireland or abroad (b) whether they were made by Irish directors and units and, if not, by whom and (c) the cost of the films concerned.

(a) Is in Éirinn a rinneadh iad; (b) Stiúrthóirí agus foirne Éireannacha a rinne iad; (c) £9,521 agus £6,000 atá íoctha ina leith go dtí seo.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April, 1974 (a) whether they were made in Ireland or abroad (b) whether they were made by Irish directors and units and, if not, by whom and (c) the cost of the films concerned.

, Cavan): So far as the film referred to in my reply of 24th April, 1974 is concerned : (a) the film was made in Ireland apart from some shots on location in Greenland; (b) the director, Mr. G. Van Gelderan, has been domiciled in Ireland for many years and the units were Irish; (c) the cost amounted to £5,566.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the films mentioned in reply to a question of 24th April 1974 (a) whether they were made in Ireland or abroad (b) whether they were made by Irish directors and units and, if not, by whom and (c) the cost of the films concerned.

The original photography and art work for the 35mm film strips commissioned by the Department were done in Ireland. The negatives and duplicate copies were made by a London firm.

The total cost of producing negatives and duplicating approximately 1,500 copies of each film-strip was £12,224 during the period in question.
