Vol. 272 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price Control.

17.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he exercises control over the price of goods already on the shop shelves when he sanctions a price increase.

Where an increase in the retail price of goods is approved it operates from a specified date in respect of all goods sold after that date. It would not be feasible to exclude goods already on the retailer's shelves from the new maximum prices.

The Deputy will appreciate that the number of products subject to statutory price control at retail level is limited.
