asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of inspectors from his Department who have been investigating overcharging for commodities in Waterford city and county; and the number of cases, if any, that have been brought to court and the result in each case.

Six inspectors have been investigating overcharging in Waterford city and county.

Seven cases of contravention of the Maximum Prices (Household Goods) Orders were brought to court resulting in seven convictions. Fines ranging from £2 to £5 were imposed.

The hearing of eight cases of contravention of the Maximum Prices (Intoxicating Liquor) Order, 1973, has been adjourned.
