asked the Taoiseach if he will state the tonnage of imports and exports recorded and the net registered tonnage of shipping entering and leaving during 1973 at Dublin, Cork, Limerick, New Ross, Drogheda, Waterford, Whiddy Island, Greenore, Galway, Dundalk, Arklow and Wicklow.

Data relating to the volume of activity at Irish ports are not yet available for the year 1973. The following table gives the information requested by the Deputy in respect of 1972 with the exception of figures for the net register tonnage of departing vessels which are not, in fact, collected.

In compiling the figures a vessel calling at one or more ports is recorded as an arrival at each of these ports and repeated voyages for the same vessel are included. The figures for the tonnage of goods handled contain estimates for livestock.
