Vol. 273 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sandwashing Plants.

20.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will outline the improvements in the last year in the control and maintenance of sandwashing plants throughout the State.

There are approximately 500 sandwashing plants in the country and during the past 10 years there have been no accidents reportable under the Mines and Quarries Act or the Factories Act. Most of these plants are attached to sand quarries and I have made new comprehensive safety regulations for quarries which will come into operation on the 1st July next.
