Social Welfare (No. 2) Bill, 1974:First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Old Age Pensions Acts, 1908 to 1974, the Unemployment Assistance Acts, 1933 to 1974, the Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Acts, 1935 to 1974, the Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Acts, 1944 to 1974, and the Social Welfare Acts, 1952 to 1974.
—(Minister for Social Welfare)

When will it be circulated?

It will be circulated over the weekend.

Over the weekend?

Friday. It merely provides for the changes in social welfare contained in the budget.

I am aware of that but we will have to consider it.

I am not trying to press the taking of this Bill unduly but it has to go through the Dáil and the Seanad so that the increases will be payable from 1st July.

I agree, subject to the Whips meeting on it.

Section Stage ordered for Tuesday, 11th June, 1974.
