Vol. 273 No. 13

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Public Convenience.

7.

asked the Minister for Local Government when work is likely to commence on the erection of a public convenience at Millstreet, County Cork.

Some suggestions have been made to the local authority for improvements in the scheme. When these have been considered it will be open to the local authority to arrange for the work to proceed.

What actually happened was the proposals were first sent in to my Department on 16th April, 1974. The plans were examined by the Department's engineering inspector for the area and, following discussions with the chief assistant county engineer and the county council's architect, they suggested the relocation of the sanitary convenience at a new site and modifications to the internal layout of the proposed structure to be agreed by the council. The Department were informed accordingly by letter on 24th June. The council can either say they will agree to the suggestions or they can say they would prefer to continue with the original plan. Either proposal will be sanctioned by me as soon as it comes in.
