Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Service.

26.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will make arrangements whereby subscribers at Grange post office, County Tipperary, may have direct dialling facilities with Clonmel.

27.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will indicate the plans he has for telephone subscribers at Grange post office, Clonmel, County Tipperary.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 26 and 27 together. A reliable estimate cannot be given at present as to when subscribers at Grange will have direct dialling facilities. It is planned to provide an automatic exchange there but a site has to be acquired, a building erected and equipment installed.

28.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the automatic telephone exchange will be installed in the post office in Cavan town.

On the basis of information from the contractor concerned it is expected that Cavan manual exchange will be converted to automatic working towards the end of the year.
