Vol. 273 No. 13

Written Answer. - Old Age Pension.

40.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why an insured contributor (No. 106396) is not regarded as eligible for the payment of a contributory old age pension; and if he will have the case reviewed.

The number given by the Deputy could be either a contributory old age pension claim number or a social insurance number. If it is a pension claim number it refers to a person residing in Dublin who is in receipt of a maximum rate pension and, if an insurance number, it refers to a person also residing in Dublin whose claim to a contributory old age pension was rejected on the grounds that he did not satisfy the condition requiring a yearly average of at least 20 contributions or credits. The person in question has a yearly average of only seven.

If this is the person to whom the Deputy's question refers it is open to him to apply to have his case reviewed by an appeals officer.

The Dáil adjourned at 2.50 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, 2nd July, 1974.
