Vol. 274 No. 7

Written Answers. - Payment of Disability Benefits.

135.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make arrangements to pay disability benefit to a person (name supplied) in County Cork who has been certified by his own doctors as not being fit for work.

The person referred to by the Deputy is receiving disability benefit in respect of incapacity which commenced on 31st October last. Payments are issued as medical certificates are received. The latest medical certificate, dated 10th July, 1974, was received on 12th July and payment issued on that date. All benefit due has therefore been paid.

136.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that a person (name supplied) in County Cork has been deprived of disability benefit as a result of insufficient contributions; and if his Department will now credit him with the contributions which a court ruling decided were his right.

Contributions due but not paid in respect of the employment of the person named by the Deputy have been treated as paid for benefit purposes and the amount of disability benefit due to 1st July, 1974, the date of the latest certificate received, has been paid.
