Vol. 274 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Cork Electricity Supply.

22.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that the supply of electricity to the Kiskeam, Boherbue and Freemount districts in north Cork is inadequate; and, if so, if he will take steps to have the matter rectified.

I am informed by the ESB that the board have received a very large number of applications from farmers in these areas who have installed increased dairy loads and require improved electricity supply to cater for bulk milk tanks, milking parlours and other dairy equipment. There is a considerable backlog on hands due to the volume of applications received, and the board say that every effort is being made to deal with the requests for improved supply as quickly as possible, on the basis of a planned work programme.
