Vol. 275 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Disputes.

12.

asked the Taoiseach the total number of man-days lost through industrial disputes in the 12 months ended 4th October, 1974, and for the corresponding periods in 1973, 1972 and 1971.

The latest available data are those in respect of the period to August, 1974. The number of man-days lost due to industrial disputes in the 12 months ended August, 1974, is provisionally estimated at 563,000. The number of man-days lost in the corresponding earlier periods are:—

Twelve months ended August, 1973, 158,000; 12 months ended August, 1972, 208,000; 12 months ended August, 1971, 477,000.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary tell us, as promised by the Minister for Labour some months ago, about this washed up committee which were to give prior warning of industrial action?

Again, I suggest the Deputy puts down a question on that matter.
