Vol. 275 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 25. Nos. 6 and 25 will be debated together. By agreement it is not proposed that Government business be interrupted to allow Private Members' Business.

On the Order of Business, I submitted a question to the Minister for Defence asking whether he agreed with the statement of his colleague, the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, regarding the efficiency of the Irish Army and their being able only to hold the town of Newry. My question did not appear on the Order Paper.

Did the Chair not communicate with the Deputy?

Yes, to the effect that the question would lead to argument.

That was the decision of the Chair—that it contained argument.

(Interruptions.)

Your appointment, a Cheann Comhairle, led to argument.
