Vol. 275 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Juvenile Liaison Officer Scheme.

71.

asked the Minister for Justice when he proposes to extend the juvenile liaison officer service to the Cork county area with particular reference to areas of rapid growth such as Ballincollig, Blarney, Carrigaline, Passage, et cetera.

The Garda have carried out a country-wide survey with a view to the expansion of the juvenile liaison officer scheme including its extension to areas not now covered by it. The results of the survey are being evaluated in Garda headquarters.

I expect that decisions on the expansion of the scheme can be taken in the near future but I am not in a position to say whether any particular area will be covered.

Questions Nos. 72 to 75, inclusive, postponed.
