Vol. 276 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois Reconstruction Grant.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in payment of a reconstruction grant to an applicant (name supplied) in County Laois; if he will arrange for early payment of the grant in view of the delay; and the dates on which this work was inspected and passed for payment by his Department's inspector.

There has been no unreasonable delay in dealing with this case. It has been ascertained that the applicant was paid a Land Commission new house grant within the 15 years prior to the commencement of the current work in June, 1974. His eligibility for a further grant has not yet been determined but an early decision will be made. The work was last inspected early in November, 1974.

And not passed for payment yet?

It has not been decided if he is eligible for payment. This is the matter at issue.
