Vol. 276 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Flooding.

90.

asked the Minister for Finance the proposals that are before his Department for the relief of flooding in Foynes, County Limerick.

Mr. Kenny

The Arterial Drainage Act, 1945 under which the Commissioners of Public Works derive their powers to carry out arterial drainage schemes is intended primarily to improve agricultural land which is not productive because of waterlogged conditions. It would not be a matter for the commissioners to carry out works to relieve urban flooding such as in Foynes, County Limerick and no such proposal is being considered by them.

Questions Nos. 91 to 98, inclusive, postponed.
