Vol. 277 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - European Health Measures.

10.

asked the Minister for Health the steps the Government are taking to conform with European measures regarding health considerations.

The Government take all necessary steps to comply with regulations and directives of the European Economic Community relating to health matters and also participate in other measures recommended by the Council of Europe.

As far as the Community is concerned, this country has conformed to directives on preservatives, colouring matter and anti-oxidants in food. In addition, the necessary arrangements for implementing regulations in respect of reciprocity of entitlement to health services within the Community have been made.

With regard to the Council of Europe, this country conforms generally to its conventions in relation to health services.

Should the Deputy wish to specify any particular matter on which he requires more detailed information, I would be glad to arrange for this to be made available to him.
