Vol. 277 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inishboffin National School.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding the proposed new national school for Inishboffin, County Galway.

Mr. Kenny

The preparation of plans and specification will be put in hands in the next few weeks and it is hoped to invite tenders for the work about April next.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state whether the site for the new school is to be the site of the existing school or is there to be a new site?

Is it to be on the island at all?

Mr. Kenny

In January, 1974, the Department asked that work on the case be suspended because of the opposition of some of the parents concerned to the location of the proposed school. In September, 1974, the Department stated that the agreement of the parents had been obtained and asked that the arrangements for the erection of the school be proceeded with. That is all the information I have at my disposal.

Has the Parliamentary Secretary the information as to whether the school is to be built on a new site or on the site of the existing school?

Mr. Kenny

That is a separate question and I have not got that information here.

Perhaps the Parliamentary Secretary would write me in this regard?

Mr. Kenny

Certainly.
