Vol. 277 No. 4

Written Answers. - Meath Pension Applicant.

96.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why the necessary information regarding a person (name supplied) in County Meath has not been sent to the British Ministry of Health and Social Security in accordance with the letter of the 27th November, 1974 which was issued by his Department; and the reason for the delay in dealing with this case.

It is not clear what information the Deputy is referring to in his question. The position in this case is that all information available at the time regarding the Irish insurance record of the person concerned was supplied by my Department to the British authorities on 28th November, 1974, with the request that his pension entitlement be determined on the basis of his available insurance record. As I indicated to the Deputy, however, on that date, in reply to his previous question, investigations were continuing to establish an earlier Irish insurance record in respect of employment the person concerned claimed to have had prior to 1953. As a result of additional information obtained from him, a pre-1953 record in respect of him under another insurance number was traced on 2nd January, 1975. Details of this record were transmitted to the British authorities on the following day. They were requested at the same time to re-examine his pension entitlement in the light of this additional insurance. It has been confirmed that the information has been received by the British authorities and that they are re-examining his pension position.
