Vol. 277 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imported Money Investment.

7.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the amount of imported money that has been invested in medical and/or drug manufacturing companies in the last ten years.

I have been informed by IDA that foreign promoted health-care projects set up with grant assistance during the past 10 years and now in production involved a planned fixed asset investment of £44 million. The IDA grant commitment was £15 million, leaving £29 million to be financed by the promoters themselves.

It is not possible to give a breakdown of this £29 million as between capital brought in by the promoters or raised internally in Ireland from financial institutions.

Firm figures for investment in projects at present under construction are not yet available.
