Vol. 279 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Allowance Book Re-issue.

24.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a social assistance book will be re-issued to a person (name supplied) in County Meath who re-applied for it on 7th February, 1975; and the reason for the delay in dealing with this matter.

The person named by the Deputy returned her social assistance allowance book to my Department on the 3rd January, 1975, and stated that she had taken up employment. The matter was referred to the Department's local officer for the purpose of ascertaining her means so that a decision on her continuing eligibility for the allowance could be made. The officer has only now succeeded in obtaining the necessary information from the applicant's employer and social assistance allowance at the rate of £9.70 a week has been restored to her.
