Vol. 279 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Hospital Appointment.

8.

asked the Minister for Health when an assistant surgeon will be appointed to Our Lady's Hospital, Cashel, County Tipperary.

I understand that the South-Eastern Health Board applied to Comhairle na nOspidéal recently for approval to a second surgeon post at this hospital but the comhairle informed the board that, pending decisions on future hospital development, they considered that the establishment at this hospital should remain as one surgeon. As the Deputy is aware, the appointment of hospital consultants requires the approval of the comhairle.
