Vol. 280 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Cork Land.

186.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission will allocate portion of the land acquired by the forestry section of his Department to a person (name supplied) in County Cork who is qualified in every respect to receive extra land.

Cavan: From the particulars furnished by the Deputy it has not been possible to identify with certainty the lands to which he refers. It is possible that the Deputy's question relates to commonage lands comprising 179 acres in the townland of Laharan. These lands are at present the subject of negotiations, not yet completed, with a view to acquisition by the Forest and Wildlife Service of my Department. The negotiations conducted to date indicate that the right-holders will require to retain the greater portion of the best quality lands. If and when acquisition is effected it is the intention of the service to plant that portion of the lands which becomes available to them.
