I am satisfied that the State grant to An Foras Talúntais taken in conjunction with their own operational and other receipts is adequate to sustain the necessary programme of agricultural research. The grant has been increased each year to take account of rising costs and now stands at £4.5 million as compared with £1,016,000 in 1964-65 and £1,846,000 in 1969-70.
