asked the Taoiseach the total number of persons in insurable employment at the latest date for which figures are available.

The total number of persons currently insured for all benefits is derived from the number of social insurance cards exchanged. In the latest insurance year, January, 1974—January, 1975 for males and July, 1973—July, 1974 for females, the number of cards exchanged was 690,441.

asked the Taoiseach the total number of persons in employment at the latest date for which figures are available.

Estimates of the total number of persons at work in the State are made annually. The most recent estimate relating to mid-April, 1974 is 1,058,000.

asked the Taoiseach the latest available unemployment figure.

The number of persons on the live register on 23rd May, 1975, was 102,068. This figure included 6,374 short-time workers.
