Vol. 281 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estates.

4.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to allot the Costello and Curley estates, Leaha, Creggs, County Galway.

(Cavan): While possession of the Curley lands has already passed to the Land Commission the formulation of proposals for its division has been deferred pending the completion of the proceedings for the other property referred to.

The Land Commission are anxious to have both these properties for allotment simultaneously so that a more effective improvement of small farms in the locality may be achieved.

Would the Minister state if it is hoped to acquire any further land in that area?

(Cavan): There is one holding in the possession of the Land Commission. Proceedings have been commenced for the others, and these will, we hope, come into the possession of the Land Commission. In regard to the area in general. I have no evidence on the file that it is contemplated to acquire further land. Of course, if suitable land becomes available it will be acquired.
