Vol. 283 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Quay.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if his Department will make a grant available to enable repairs to be carried out to the quay at Errislannan, Clifden, County Galway.

As the Deputy was informed in reply to his previous question of 18th February, 1975, what is involved here is the carrying out of improvements at Errislannan quay to facilitate a private firm of boat builders. The funds available to me for marine works are restricted to the development and improvement of landing places in the interest of the commercial fishing fleet and the requirement here does not come within that category. My information is that the firm concerned have been in contact with the Galway county development officer who has advised them to approach the Galway County Council, who I understand own Errislannan quay, with a view to having the quay repaired and securing permission to use it in connection with their business. I understand also that the firm has been advised on how to apply for development grants.
