Vol. 284 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rates Waivers.

24.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he proposes to take any action, legislative or otherwise, to ensure that tenants of rented houses who are granted rates waivers are given the benefit of such reliefs by landlords.

I would refer the Deputy to section 3 of the Local Government (Rates) Act 1970 the effect of which is to require the owner of a rented house to pass on to a tenant, by way of adjustment of the rent payable, the benefit of any waiver of rates granted by a local authority to the tenant.
