asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of the fact that new towns are being established in the greater Dublin area extending into Kildare and Meath, he will ensure that the character of the towns in so far as a diverse and balanced social composition is concerned will be considered.

Responsibility for the overall planning and development of their areas rests with the local planning authorities whose development plans contain provisions designed to secure objectives of the kind mentioned by the Deputy.
