Vol. 285 No. 3

Written Answers. - Castlebar County Hospital.

446.

asked the Minister for Health the plans he has for the extension of Castlebar County Hospital, County Mayo; and when he proposes to establish a nurses' training school at this hospital.

The Deputy will be aware that the national hospital plan provides for the development of the county hospital at Castlebar as a general hospital.

Discussions have been held over a period with the health board on the number and kind of additional beds which should be provided in the extended hospital and a decision on this will be made soon.

The next step would be to set up a project team to undertake the planning of the extended hospital, including the accommodation for the nurses' training school which, it is agreed, should be provided there.
