Vol. 285 No. 3

Written Answers. - Employment and Redundancy Benefit.

461.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make arrangements to have unemployment and redundancy benefit paid to a person in County Cork (details supplied).

A claim to unemployment benefit made by the person concerned on 5th June, 1975, was disallowed by a deciding officer on the ground that he had left his employment voluntarily without just cause and was accordingly disqualified from receiving unemployment benefit for a period of six weeks. There was no evidence that he had been made redundant by his employer. The claimant, who subsequently obtained other employment, has appealed against the deciding officer's decision and an oral hearing of the appeal at which it will be open to him to attend and give evidence on his own behalf is due to take place this week.
