Vol. 285 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Building Contract.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a building contracting firm in County Cork (details supplied) have not completed houses according to contracts although they have been paid by their customers; and if he will investigate the matter.

I am not so aware. The system-built house produced by the firm named has been approved by my Department for grant purposes, but no application for a grant has been received either from the person named or the firm. My Department's responsibility extends only to ensuring that houses the subject of grant applications are completed to grant standards. Matters arising from the terms of building contracts are for settlement by the parties involved.

I am not sure whether the same firm are involved but a Cork firm closed down——

Doneraile.

The firm I am referring to are in Cork city.
